Brooklyn Marine Terminal Public Engagement
In September 2025, the BMT Task Force voted to pass the BMT Vision Plan by a two-thirds supermajority with the support of a coalition of elected officials, community leaders, organized labor, and maritime industry experts.
This Vision Plan informs the final project plan of the site—a State-run process known as the General Project Plan (GPP)—that will need to be approved by the Empire State Development Board and the Public Authorities Control Board.
Going forward, there will be several opportunities for continued public engagement, starting with the environmental review process which is already underway. Additionally, the previous BMT Task Force (the group that approved the Vision Plan) has officially disbanded and a new “BMT Advisory Task Force” will start. This group is composed of almost all of the original Task Force members but additionally includes the chairs of the six Advisory Groups and a representative of the Columbia Street Waterfront. This group will focus on the continued refinement of the site plan for the duration of the GPP process.
