Transitioning from HireNYC to Community Hiring: The City is phasing out HireNYC and moving toward the City’s Community Hiring program. Active projects with HireNYC goals should continue to meet those contract requirements.

HireNYC is a free, NYCEDC-run program that connects businesses and developers to the City’s workforce services. It delivers job-ready, qualified New Yorkers to your project while creating local employment opportunities for low-income communities.

Requirements

If your project meets HireNYC thresholds—such as creating 10 or more permanent jobs—you’re obligated to participate. Participation includes:

• Making good faith efforts toward workforce goals (e.g., hiring, retention, advancement)
• Notifying HireNYC of job openings
• Providing designated hiring windows and a recruitment process timeframe
