New Yorkers Can Win a Free Annual Ferry Pass by Taking Short Survey on Web Portal
NEW YORK, NY—New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and Hornblower, the operator of Citywide Ferry, today announced the launch of CitywideFerry.NYC, the official web portal for the city's newest mode of public transportation and the first citywide ferry service in nearly 100 years.
During the construction and development phase of Citywide Ferry, the website will feature project updates, upcoming public meetings, a live stream of boat construction once underway, maps and schedules, along with information on applying for one of the over 150 quality local jobs Citywide Ferry is expected to create for New Yorkers.
In addition to potential ferry riders having the ability to connect with the operator, five lucky New Yorkers who take a two-minute survey about Citywide Ferry through the website will automatically be entered to win one of five annual Citywide Ferry passes once service commences next year. Winners of the annual passes will be announced as Citywide Ferry gets closer to launch with one entry per person.
"We're moving full speed toward launch of Citywide Ferry Service next summer, and we need input from New Yorkers to make sure the new ferry system is the best it can possibly be,” said NYCEDC President Maria Torres-Springer. “So go to CitywideFerry.NYC, take our survey, sign up for alerts, and you could win a free year's worth of ferry rides."
"Our hundreds of miles of prime waterfront are a place for New Yorkers to work, live and play and it'll be easier than ever to do all three once Citywide Ferry launches next year," said Cameron Clark, VP of Hornblower New York. "We also want to hear from New Yorkers on how they plan to use the system, which is why we encourage everyone to take our brief two minute survey to tell us a little about how they plan to use the system. For that, we'll reward five lucky New Yorkers with an annual ferry pass."
Updates regarding the progress of Citywide Ferry will be posted on CitywideFerry.NYC, along with Citywide Ferry's Facebook and Twitter Page.
Citywide Ferry Service will be priced at the cost of a single subway ride, and operate from 21 landings across the city. When fully operational in 2018, it will carry an estimated 4.6 million trips per year across six routes, providing new transportation options to communities where housing and jobs are growing fast.
