As a member of Venture for NYC, you’ll gain access to:
- A trusted peer network (view a full list of our members) for candid discussions and resource-sharing
- Regular convenings, including high-impact working groups and premier innovation and venture ecosystem events
- Structured opportunities to amplify your firm’s leadership to founders, limited partners, and the broader NYC venture ecosystem
- A platform to engage with and impact citywide innovation strategy and demonstrate your firm’s commitment to inclusive growth in NYC
Requirements to Join
- Innovation Ecosystem Player: A NYC-based investor, capital fund, or ecosystem partner
- NYC presence: Headquartered or have partner-level presence in NYC with active operations
- Commitment: Agree to fulfill the annual commitments
Core Commitments
- Complete a brief annual survey to share or update member firm data, programs, and initiatives
- Introduce ecosystem partners including new VCs, LPs, angels, banks, institutional investors, sponsors, and service providers to NYCEDC and Venture for NYC
- Participate in the Venture for NYC community by supporting a minimum of one Venture for NYC program per year
Venture for NYC members are strongly encouraged to pursue additional actions throughout each year of membership, including:
Programming Support
- Mentor/advise 1+ participants in NYCEDC entrepreneurship programs including Founder Fellowship, NYC AI Nexus, NYC Game Design Future Lab, Visionaries NYC Alumni Network, Women.NYC: Scale Ready Studio, and more
- Host 1+ participants from NYCEDC startup or venture workforce programs including LifeSci NYC Internship Program, NYC Startup Internship Program, NYC Venture Capital Internship Program, and more
- Mentor 1+ diverse/small/emerging fund managers, including participants of NYC-based venture workforce programs (as relevant)
- Sponsor/host 1+ Venture for NYC events focused on improving education, culture, and policies within venture firms and the innovation ecosystem at large
- Respond to and/or amplify relevant NYCEDC public procurements
Thought Leadership
- Advocate for industry actions and policy recommendations that can advance equitable innovation in NYC venture, including participation in NYCEDC industry-focused working groups or advisory councils, authoring op-eds, or hosting stakeholder discussions
- Host 1+ Innovation Industry roundtable discussions to facilitate peer-to-peer information exchange, share best practices and lessons learned from your operations, and foster collaboration
- Contribute to a Venture for NYC member newsletter—a clearinghouse of ways to engage in programs and support diverse founders/funders
Network Growth
- Host and attend 1+ dinners or other gatherings to convene existing and prospective members (including coordinating logistics, securing sponsorship as needed, etc.)
- Promote and amplify Venture for NYC messaging across your networks and social channels
Venture Ecosystem Funding
- Fund the development or continuation of programs to improve equitable growth within NYC’s venture ecosystem, including but not limited to:
- Sponsor an NYC-based venture workforce program
- Co-invest with other Venture for NYC members in NYC-based founders and/or small/diverse/emerging fund managers
