Wildflower LTD Breaks Ground on JFK Park, One of New York City’s Largest Public Electric Vehicle Charging Hubs
Project to Deliver 38 Fast Chargers at Launch with Capacity to Expand - Serving Airport and Regional Traffic
Charging Hub Anticipated to Be Completed and Operational By Late 2027 and Help Address EV Charging Demand in Southeast Queens
NEW YORK, NY—Wildflower Ltd and the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) today announced the groundbreaking at JFK Park, which will become one of the largest publicly accessible electric vehicle (EV) fast charging stations in New York City. This milestone reflects years of planning and marks the start of construction on one of New York City’s most significant investments in transportation electrification.
The 2.6-acre site, located immediately adjacent to JFK Airport, will open with 38 direct current (DC) fast chargers operating 24 hours a day. Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging will operate the charging hub at JFK Park. Each stall can deliver up to 400kW and is equipped with both NACS and CCS cables, so drivers of any vehicle brand can charge without an adapter. A weather-protective canopy, incorporated lighting and seating will ensure a comfortable and secure experience. JFK Park occupies one of the region’s most strategic transportation locations. The site provides direct access to the Van Wyck Expressway and Belt Parkway via the Nassau Expressway and Rockaway Boulevard, placing it at the center of one of the nation’s busiest passenger, cargo, and logistics corridors. The project has been designed to accommodate future growth, with substantial electrical capacity to support expanding demand from electric vehicle drivers.

Construction is now underway, with completion anticipated in late Fall 2027.
JFK Park will play a critical role in supporting passenger vehicles, for-hire fleets, and commercial operators traveling through one of the nation’s busiest transportation hubs. Its proximity to JFK Airport and direct access to major arterial highways makes the site crucial in the region’s evolving electric mobility network. The development is planned to include 38 direct current (DC) fast chargers, available 24/7.
The project builds on New York City’s Green Economy Action Plan, which aims to accelerate the deployment of clean infrastructure, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and create quality jobs across the five boroughs. In addition, the development includes commitments to advance minority- and women-owned business enterprises (M/WBE) participation and support local workforce engagement, helping ensure that the benefits of this investment are shared with surrounding communities.
