A Sustainable Urban Industrial District

The Sunset Park waterfront district is already a major contributor to NYC’s industrial sector. The Vision Plan is a roadmap for redeveloping this key asset to seize the opportunities of the 21st century and make it a prime destination for environmentally-sustainable industry. Over a long-term 10-year strategy, NYCEDC aims to:

  • Maximize the efficient movement of goods.
  • Protect and grow industrial employment.
  • Promote green practices.
  • Balance neighborhood needs.

The Sunset Park industrial waterfront has enormous potential. With its strategic location on Upper New York Bay, extensive industrial infrastructure, access to a large local labor pool, and connection to major transportation networks, it’s in a strong position to be a lead player in the diversification and growth of NYC’s economy.
