NYCEDC’s Sunset Park District: City Assets Catalyzing Industry Growth

NYCEDC’s Sunset Park District spans 200 acres of the South Brooklyn waterfront and includes four major industrial campuses—the Brooklyn Army Terminal (BAT), South Brooklyn Marine Terminal (SBMT), Made in New York (MiNY) Campus at Bush Terminal, and the Brooklyn Wholesale Meat Market (BWMM).

Bringing together public and private investment in these assets, NYCEDC is working across the Sunset Park District and the broader neighborhood to:

  • Maintain and grow the local advanced manufacturing sector, particularly in the green economy
  • Continue to grow a dynamic mix of tenant businesses across sectors
  • Establish strong connections to Sunset Park residents
  • Create high-quality campus experiences through placemaking, amenities, and activations that serve businesses, workforce, and local communities.

This vibrant, multicultural neighborhood was envisioned as a future industrial hub in the 2009 Sunset Park Vision Plan.

Transformation through Investment

Driven by nearly $1.5 billion in public and private investment, major developments across the campuses of the Sunset Park District will have a transformative impact on its buildings and public realm.

Brooklyn Army Terminal (BAT)

At BAT’s 4 million-square-foot waterfront industrial campus, NYCEDC will invest up to $100 million to develop a world-class Climate Innovation Hub. This new space at BAT will accelerate commercialization pathways for climate tech startups and incumbent businesses. The hub will serve 150 startups over 10 years, creating $2.6 billion in economic impact and 600 jobs, and provide workforce training, especially for the local Sunset Park community.
