Transitioning from HireNYC to Community Hiring: The City is phasing out HireNYC and moving toward its Community Hiring program. Active projects with HireNYC goals should continue to meet those contract requirements.
Community Hiring is NYCEDC’s program that ensures NYCEDC-supported projects contribute to economic opportunity by recruiting from communities with limited economic resources. If you are a business with an NYCEDC contract that includes Community Hiring requirements, our team will guide you in meeting these goals.
Key Benefits
- Direct access to qualified candidates from targeted communities
- Step-by-step guidance on compliance and reporting
- Stronger ties with local communities and contribution to inclusive growth
Requirements
If your project meets certain Community Hiring thresholds you’re obligated to participate. Participation includes:
- Make best efforts to meet the Community Hiring goals by working with approved referral sources
- Track and report relevant employment metrics to NYCEDC
- Support pathways for economically disadvantaged New Yorkers and New Yorkers from economically disadvantaged communities to access quality jobs.
