Meet the NYC Venture Capital Internship Alumni: Kerem Asa

This summer, I’ve had the opportunity to intern at Antler, a global early-stage venture capital firm with a mission to back the world’s most exceptional people from day zero. As a Founder Scouting Intern in the New York office, I’ve had a front-row seat to how venture capital operates at its earliest and most dynamic stage, where ideas become companies and potential becomes action.

Each day at Antler brings something new. My core focus has been identifying and engaging high-potential individuals who could become the next generation of world-class founders. Whether I’m researching regional tech ecosystems, analyzing university networks, or building targeted sourcing funnels, I’ve developed a strong eye for founder-market fit and learned how to assess early entrepreneurial signals.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my internship has been the opportunity to support Antler’s partners on a variety of strategic projects aimed at strengthening our founder pipeline and community engagement. From helping to streamline internal processes to contributing to outreach strategies, I’ve been able to work closely with the team on initiatives that drive real impact. I’ve also had the chance to assist with some of the exciting events we host, like hackathons and our signature Founder House gatherings, which bring together talented individuals from diverse backgrounds to connect, collaborate, and explore new venture opportunities.

These projects have pushed me to think strategically, work cross-functionally, and build programs from the ground up, all while staying close to the pulse of innovation. A standout aspect of this internship has been the direct exposure to venture decision-making. I’ve been able to observe pitch calls, sit in on internal discussions around sourcing and founder selection, and support Antler’s broader investment efforts. These experiences have helped demystify the venture process and shown me just how impactful early-stage investors can be in shaping companies and supporting founders from day one. I’m currently a finance major at Baruch College, graduating in December 2025, and this internship has been a defining moment in my journey. Before Antler, I had an interest in startups but it was this hands-on experience that revealed to me how much I love the venture space. I’ve realized that VC is more than just investing, it’s about people, ideas, and long-term vision. It’s about recognizing potential early and building relationships that last.

After graduating, I hope to pursue a career in venture capital, where I can continue to support early-stage founders, contribute to innovation, and help shape the future of entrepreneurship. Whether through sourcing, strategy, or platform building, I’m excited to be part of this fast-moving, high-impact world.

Being part of the NYC VC Internship Program has accelerated my growth and expanded my network in ways I couldn’t have imagined. It’s connected me with peers who are equally passionate about startups, mentors who’ve generously shared their insights, and a broader ecosystem that I’m excited to continue engaging with.

If you’re a student considering a path in VC or startups, my biggest piece of advice is: stay curious, stay proactive, and don’t be afraid to reach out. Most people in this industry appreciate hustle and thoughtfulness and doors will open if you keep knocking.
